Thanks to everyone for all of your comments and kind words, it means a lot to me. I have been slow to add them but I will try to do better. There have been so many I had to add a second page. You will find some very good Texas dive informations as well as other states on these pages. Please click on page two to view more comments.

Hi,
I'm working on my divemaster certification and am doing my emergency
evacuation plan for Balmorhea State Park. I found a hyperbaric chamber
in El Paso Texas that treats dive accidents which is not listed on your
page. I called today and confirmed that they do treat dive accidents.
I'm not sure if you're familiar with this site http://www.scuba-doc.com
I found the information on one of the pages at this site:
http://www.scuba-doc.com/listchmbr.htm
The location is:
Las-Palmas Medical Center
1801 N Oregon
El Paso, Texas
Emergency Room: 915-521-1266
Department of Hyperbaric Medicine 915-521-1322
I spoke to Arnold "Skip" Zweeres and he said they have had several DAN
referals for divers out of Mexico. They do offer 24/7 service.

Hey Fat Boy Scuba,
This is John Bailey, I'm a sales representative at the Scuba Center in Tyler, Tx, and I thought you might like to know a little bit more about the awesome diving at Tyler State Park. The deepest I've ever heard of anyone getting is about 30 feet. While forty-five sounds better, I'm afraid that 30 is the deepest you'll get. In addition to the large amount of very hungry crappie, and brim, it is not uncommon at all to see huge catfish and largemouth bass.
If you head out from an entrance point which is to the west of the swimming area, at a heading of 220 degrees there is a brush pile where most of the fish hang out, and further out there is a platform which the Scuba Center installed many years ago. The vis does range greatly because of the rain's effect on it, but the vis is usually better in the fall months like Steve Mullins said.
I am firmly conviced that TSP (Tyler State Park) is one of the best dives in and around E. Texas. It's cheap (3 bucks a car or free if you have the state park pass), and loads of fun. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to call or stop by the Scuba Center in Tyler. We can fill your tank, and give you some more info on other great local dives.

Comments: Hi, my husband and I are divers and have not dove anything but local lakes. We live in Oklahoma and dive in Lake Murray, Broken Bow (we saw freshwater jelly fish here), and Tenkiller Lake.
We really enjoyed Tenkiller the most although the others are good too. We saw a lot of fish when we were at Tenkiller and the visibitlity was good especially after you got past the thermacline. The water at 52 feet was about 60 degrees. There are a lot of rock ledges with little cave like areas that we saw a lot of fish in. There is a platform in about 20 foot of water and the perch will swarm you! We were there on a Thursday and early in the day on Friday and the boat traffic was not bad. Hearing boats over head makes me nervous. You can dive and find a jail and other stuff that are remnants of a flooded town. I think this was my favorite dive so far but I only have 17 logged dives.
Lake Murray has so many boats and the clearest place has a difficult entry. The boat traffic was horrible. I was on the bank at one point and there were 7 divers down with a flag and a guy in a boat was doing donuts above them. This is a good reason to never surface except at the bank! There are some sunken treasures to be found. This is also a place where a town was flooded and you can dive down and find remnants of it. I have heard this I have not done this. There were some fish but not as many as Tenkiller.
Broken Bow is not known for diving like the others and we don't really know where the best places to dive are. There is the old Hochotown underwater there and I have heard you can dive through the old buildings. We saw the freshwater jelly fish here which was really cool. I did not even know there was such a thing. I did not see as many fish here as I figured I would. I do like the lake though and just getting in the water and exploring is FUN.
I would like for you to tell us of other dive spots in OK if you know of any. We have 5 divers in our church which my husband pastors. We have our own little dive group going on and as soon as my kids get old enough I hope they will join us!
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi
I just visited your web site and was really glad to see something on diving in Arkansas, thank you for the complementary remarks. I am very new to diving myself, but have a lot of friends that have been diving Arkansas for a long time. There are a couple (actually 3) other lakes that you may want to check out if you have the opportunity. They would be a little bit further drive for you, but it would be worth the drive. Greers Ferry Lake, is located about an hour north of Little Rock. This is where I did my open water certification. It is a deeper lake than Ouachita, but not as large. The dam is located near the town of Heber Springs. On the weekend of my open water dives, the visibility was 25 feet or more. Spearfishing is great in this lake. The 2 lakes that are the clearest in the state are Bull Shoals, and Norfork. These are deep water lakes as well and although I have not spent as much time in these 2 lakes as I have Greers Ferry, they are certainly a lot clearer. They are both located in the northwest part of the state. You would probably want to travel to these lakes through Oklahoma. This is also the most beautiful area of the state and there are many great places to stay in this area. You may not be interested in any of these locations because of the distance, however I did want to mention them to you. We in Arkansas are very lucky to have lakes such as these to dive in, and we do want to share them with our fellow divers.
Thanks and dive safe.
Tony

Hey Fatboy,
Just wanted to drop a line and say thanks for sharing your experiences, (both good and bad!) with us. I am relatively new to the sport of scuba diving, and living in Oklahoma, find myself traveling to Texas to do most of my diving. I enjoy your stories and reports. It is quite obvious that you have put quite a bit of time and effort into informing people on a subject we all love. Keep up the good work, and come dive Tenkiller with us if you get the chance!!

Comments: I am very glad you posted your story. I now feel like I am not the only one! I have sent you a link to my Valhallas trip picture and my full review. I have sent you a portion of the story that relates my experience of a faulty regulator at depth in Valhalla. This is definitely an "experienced diver only" dive site in my humble opinion. Feel free to post what you want with my name and city.
http://www.welchtravel.com/scubadiving/Valhalla.html
"The dive site itself should not be missed if you can get here within a days
drive. I don't know that I would make a big trip out here unless you just
have to have this one in your dive book. I would recommend that you bring a
computer for one of two reasons on this dive. Number one it is an altitude
dive, number two you will need it to judge your descent rate and ascent
rate. This can be a VERY disorientating dive. I am an experienced diver and
I descended to fast with no visual point, but a rope surrounded by a curved
wall and lots of cold water. It was very cold, and once I hit about 75
feet, I over breathed my regulator ( goodbye Oasis, hello Mares) which
brought me into a mild panic. I ascended for what I thought was only a
couple of feet to catch my breath and get my bearings and before I knew it
another diver ( who actually thought I was his buddy, it's so dark) was
grabbing my BCD and holding me down. I looked down at my depth gauge and I
was in 34 feet of water and no where to go but up. I dumped what air I could
and did a 3 minute safety stop with my buddy. Total dive time with safety
stop, 8 minutes. Bottom line, ascend slowly and get used to the water and
your surroundings. The silo is about 60 feet wide and 130 feet deep with the
debris field at about 110 feet. You really can't go past 110 feet. That's
it, it's a concrete hole filled with water and it's cold. I found this dive
site thrilling, historical and a bit of an oddity.

Thanks for the great website. As a Dallas-based Divemaster, I'm
constantly trying to convince folks there is reasonable diving in and
around the Metroplex. Your site is invaluable in steering them towards
some of the local sites.
Are you interested in additional pics for the site? I'm always goofing
around trying to document places like the Oasis, Travis, etc. and would
be glad to share any reasonable ones with you that I get. A few samples
are attached. I also write dive site reviews for the web site devoted to
diving at the company I work for, and could forward those to you for
posting as well.
Thanks again for the efforts.
